Start with NoDa when you want the most choices in one area. Pick Plaza Midwood for late bars and live rooms, Montford for karaoke and bar food, or the west side for an arcade and a patio.
The quick decision
NoDa is the easiest neighborhood to change plans without changing neighborhoods. Plaza Midwood works better when the group already knows it wants music, a rooftop or a 2 a.m. pub.
NoDa when the group wants choices
Neighborhood Theatre is the larger ticketed room. Growlers Pourhouse has food and a late weekend bar. Idlewild is the small cocktail choice for six people or fewer.
JackBeagle's keeps the night casual and serves food late. Soul Gastrolounge pairs cocktails and small plates with house DJs in its Raleigh Street home.
Plaza Midwood for music and a late finish
Snug Harbor mixes bands, DJs and karaoke. The Rabbit Hole books bands and DJ nights on Commonwealth Avenue.
The Workman's Friend gives you a dark pub room or an open-air bar. Whiskey Warehouse adds a rooftop that runs late on Friday and Saturday.
South End and Montford for one clear plan
Amos' Southend is the concert choice. Buy for the show first, then decide whether standing room or mezzanine seating fits the night.
On Montford Drive, Jeff's Bucket Shop is the karaoke room. Brazwells is the neighborhood pub with bar food and events through the week.
Belmont and the west side for something different
