Middle C Jazz is a jazz club on South Brevard Street in Uptown that calls itself an intimate New York style club with Southern hospitality. The kitchen is run by Dressler's Improv Kitchen and serves small plates alongside the cocktail list. The room books mainstream, smooth, contemporary, R&B and funk players and has hosted Chris Botti, Curtis Salgado and Karen Briggs. Downbeat named it one of the World's Great Jazz Venues in 2026 and the Charlotte Observer named it Best Live Music Venue in 2024 and 2025.
The Neighborhood Theatre was built as the Astor Theatre in 1945, part of the post-war movie theatre boom, and was converted to a live concert venue in 1997. Its own site describes both a small room for emerging artists and a larger main stage for touring acts. It runs a bar, which went cashless on 24 February 2025, and it is the anchor that gives the NoDa arts district its music reputation.
Petra's is a piano bar and small stage on Commonwealth Ave in Plaza Midwood that opened in 2007. Its own calendar runs karaoke nights, jazz sessions, bands and solo performers most weeks.

The Evening Muse has been running on North Davidson Street since 2001 and bills itself as Charlotte's premiere intimate venue for up-and-coming and established musicians, artists, comedians and poets. It is a listening room rather than a bar with a stage, and it runs a Monday open mic. Its calendar carries shows into 2027.
The Rabbit Hole is a live room on Commonwealth Avenue that books bands and DJs and sums itself up in three lines on its own site: good drinks, good music, good people. The Visulite is a music room on Elizabeth Ave that books rock, tribute acts and progressive bills across most weeks of the year.
